2445 - St. Petersburg, Florida, USA

Melissa and Jim live in St. Petersburg and they sent me a card of the Bob Graham Sunshine Skyway Bridge. It is a cable-stayed bridge spanning the Lower Tampa Bay connecting St. Petersburg to Terra Ceia. It opened in 1987 and currently tolls cars $1.50 to cross.

Melissa and Jim call the Sunshine Skyway "very famous/infamous bridge." Although it is considered a symbol of Florida, there are problems with suicides and suicide attempts. People who are listed as missing persons are also suspected of jumping from the bridge, but their bodies have never been found.

Corrosion is also another problem. They were able to reinforce the corroded sections. It was also noted that the Skyway's low bridge clearance prevented larger vessels from using the Port Tampa Bay Terminals. Some cruise ships exceed the bridge's height limit of 55 m.

After ordering the killing of Gambino boss Paul Catellano in 1985, he took over the family and led what was the United States' most powerful crime syndicate. He was known as The Teflon Don  after three high profile trials in the 1980s resulted in acquittals. Later it was revealed that the trials had been tainted by jury tampering, juror misconduct, and...
