The EC Kassel Huskies play in DEL2, the second level of ice hockey in Germany. They were founded in 1977 and have competed in the top five levels of hockey during that time. They have won the 2.Bundesliga in 2007-08, the DEL2 in 2015-16, and the Hessenliga in 2010-11. Their current roster includes five Canadians: Tyler Gron from Spruce Grove, Alberta Jace Hennig from Port Moody, British Columbia Jens Meiller from Marquette, Manitoba Sébastien Sylvestre from Boucherville, Quebec Corey Trivino from Toronto, Ontario. The general manager is also Canadian, Joe Gibbs .

Kelsterbach is part of the Frankfurt Rhein-Main urban area. After World War II , many of the businesses in Kelsterbach were connected to Frankfurt Airport , which is located adjacent to the town. The sender notes that this card from Brussels was purchased during a weekend trip. The photo shows Parc du Cinquantenaire (Park of the Fiftieth Anniversary), a large urban park of about 30 hectares located in the eastern part of the European Quarter. The “fiftieth anniversary” refers to the Belgian Revolution , when the southern provinces of the Kingdom of the Netherlands seceded and established the Kingdom of Belgium. The centerpiece of the complex is the Cinquantenaire Arch , completed in 1905. The park is filled with gardens, ponds, and landscaped green spaces. Prior to 1930, it hosted numerous trade fairs, exhibitions, and festivals. Today, it serves primarily as a public leisure park. It’s interesting to think of such a long history—from Roman soldiers to modern-day celebrations—captured in a single postcard. This card comes from Altenstadt , located north of Frankfurt . It is an ancient settlement first mentioned in documents in 767. Archaeological excavations have shown that it was the site of a Roman garrison in the first half of the second century. This card celebrates 175 years of Hasenheide Gymnastics. The image is entitled “The Gymnastics Trip.”

The sender has two hobbies—photography and making his own postcards. This card features one of his own photographs, which he turned into a postcard. Dietzenbach was once a small farming town of about 4000 people before World War II . After the war, the population grew rapidly as refugees began settling in the area. Today, the town has around 35 000 residents, and roughly one-third have roots in more than 100 countries outside of Germany. Dietzenbach also has an Ausländerbeirat , or foreigners’ advisory council. Nineteen representatives from various nationalities meet ahead of town council sessions to provide input on i ssues affecting the community.

Neu-Isenburg is part of the Frankfurt Rhein-Main urban area and has a population of nearly 40 000 people. The town is home to Autokino Gravenbruch , the oldest drive-in movie theatre in Europe. Neu-Isenburg is also well known in the region for its annual Open Doors Festival (formerly known as Musikspektakel). Over three days, around 40 bands and artists from a wide range of musical genres perform. The free event attracts approximately 15 000 visitors and takes place across several stages throughout the town.

This is a photo of Castle of Chaumont. It was founded by Odo I (973-996), Count of Blois. The castle has changed ownership many times over it's history. Many people of the enlightenment and romantic periods have been guests at the castle including: Juliette Récamier (1777-1849) - a French socialite whose salon drew people from the leading literary and political circles of early 1800s Paris. She is considered an icon of neoclassicism, cultivated a public persona as a great beauty, befriended many intellectuals, sat for the finest artists of the time, and spurned an offer of marriage from Prince Augustus of Prussia. Adelbert von Chamisso (1781-1838) - a German poet, writer, and botanist.  Benjamin Constant (1767-1830) - Swiss/French thinker, activist, and writer of political theory and religion.  Chaumont itself has a population of 1100 people and is a commune and town in the Loir-et-Cher department and the administrative region of Centre-Val de Loire.

The sender is a SC Freisburg supporter but loves to visit other football stadiums when travelling. This one comes from Edinburgh, Scotland, and is the home stadium for the Heart of Midlothian Football Club, affectionally known as Hearts.  Tynecastle Park, or Tynie, can seat almost 20 000 spectators for football. It first opened in 1886, and then went through a major renovation between 1994-1997, and then underwent another renovation in 2017. The Hearts are as older as they were formed in 1874.  Hearts have won the Scottish Premiership four times and were runner-up 14 times. They won the Scottish Cup eight times and were runner-up nine times.  They have won the Scottish League Cup four times and were runner-up three times. 

Schlüchtern is a city of 16 000 people, located on the banks of the river Kinzig. Documents first mention  Schlüchtern in 1278. There is an earlier mention in 819, but it is disputed. It was around this time when a Benedictine abbey was established.  This card has an illustration from the children's book The Day Adam Got Mad  by Astrid Lindgren. Adam is a bull who is normally a quiet and peaceful bull. One day he gets furious and no one knows why. People are afraid of Adam except for a young boy, Kalle. Kalle talks gently to Adam and at first Adam doesn't want to listen. But Kalle persists and eventually Adam allows him to gently pet him. Adam is no longer mad and Kalle walks him back to the stable. 

A fellow teacher from the capital city of Hesse, Wiesbaden. Wiesbaden is home to SV Wehen Wiesbaden, who play in the 3.Liga, the third division of football in Germany. It was established in 1926. They play at the BRITA-Arena.

One of Frankfurt's monikers is "The City of the Euro" in 1998. The European Central Bank ( Europäische Zentralbank) is found in the Ostand District in Frankfurt. The bank has a balance sheet of  €7 trillion. The Seat of the European Central Bank is housed in the former  Großmarkthalle and a newly built (2014) 185 meter skyscraper. Up to 2300 European Central Bank employees can be housed here. 

I am not much interested in physics, but I have always enjoyed posters and photos of Albert Einstein. This looks to be one of Einstein late in his life probably on the radio for an interview.  

A very cool card from the Open Flair Festival in Eschwege. It is an annual event of German and international bands playing over five days on eight stages. Up to 25 000 people attend each year. Eschwege's population is almost 19 000 people!

Reichelsheim is a town of about 6750 people. It is first mentioned in documents in 817. It is located about 30 kilometres north of Frankfurt am Main.  

Mücke is a town of 9500 people located in central Germany. The sender is a Eintracht Frankfurt football supporters. She has had season tickets since 1992, has a membership to the sports club, and is in a fan club. She'll even go out of town to follow the team - nationally and internationally.  Her card, though, is of FC Barcelona's stadium, Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys. It has a 53 367 seat capacity for football. Barcelona is one of the world' most decorated clubs including 27 La Liga titles, 31 Copa del Rey, 15 Supercopa da  España , three Copa Eva Duarte, and two Copa de la Liga titles. Internationally they have won 22 European and worldwide titles - five UEFA Champions League titles, four UEFA Cup Winners' Cups, five UEFA Super Cups, three Inter-Cities Fairs Cup, two Latin Cups, and three FIFA Club World Cups.  Barcelona has a long standing rivalty with Real Madrid. Rüsselsheim am Main'f foundation goes back to a Frankish colony in the first half of the 5th century CE. The first written record of  Rüsselsheim am Main (known as Rucilesheim) goes back to 840 CE. In 1435, Count John IV of Katzenelnbogen was the first to cultivate Riesling, a white grape variety that orginated in the Rhine region. Riesling wines are pure and seldom oaked. They are dry, semi-sweet, and sparkling whine wines. Riesling grapes were planted down the river Rhine and up the river Mosel. After World War I, viticulture disappeared in  Rüsselsheim am Main. There is a museum-vineyard near the castle which celebrates 550 Years of Riesling .  Today the population is almost 68 000 people. 

A nice Postcrossing Meetup card from Kevelaer - their second meet up in May 2024. Looks like about 15-16 people were there, based on the number of signatures and stamps found on the back. Kevelaer is in western Germany, very near the border of Netherlands.  Kevelaer is the largest Catholic pilgrimage location in north-west Europe. One million Marian devotees from Germany and the Netherlands, visit the Basilica of Kevelaer every year to honour the Blessed Virgin Mary. According to tradition, a merchant named Hendrik Busman, days before Christmas 1641, heard a voice say three times "Here thou shall build me a chapel." He began to set money aside but didn't want his wife to find out. She had her own vision near Pentecost in which she saw a little chapel containing a print of Our Lad y of Consolation, all bathed in light. This card is from Iceland and is of Seljalandsfoss, a waterfall near  Hvolsvöllur, in the south of Iceland. The waterfall is 60 metres and a part of the Seljalands River. The water falls into a small cave. The water comes from the  Eyjafjallajökull, a volcanic glacier. 

The sender says I share a birthday with her daughter so I must be stubborn, too! Is that what a person who is an Aries is?
