The sender is from Sacramento, but the card he sent is from Solvang. Solvang is found in Santa Barbara County and has a population of 6100 people. It brands itself as the Danish Capital of America.  In 1804 Mission Santa Inés was founded by the Spanish. A small community grew around the mission, but then was largely abandoned after the American Conquest of California. In 1911, Danish-Americans purchased 3600 hectares. The people wanted to get away from the Midwest winters. The community took on a distinctive Danish look beginning in 1947 and Solvang began calling itself the Danish Capital of America to attract tourists. Today on about 10% of the population is Danish. The town attracts many tourists from Scandinavian countries. The Danish Royal Family has also visited several times, the last being Prince Henrik in 2011.
