The sender says she purchased this card at the Miniature Life Exhibition by miniature photographer Tatsuka Tanaka. The exhibition description reads: Tatsuka Tanaka regularly uploads and shares photographs of miniature depictions, or mitate , of scenes from normal life that he creates using diorama figurines and everyday products. These works quickly spread throughout the world via social media and bring joy to people of many different cultures and generations. In this exhibition, we will display about 120 representative photographic works, as well as 50 of these miniature scenes and objects, that have beed made in recent years. The exhibition will introduce visitors to the charm and secrets of the active, hardworking, and unique artist, Tatsuya Tanaka, who works incorporate both current affairs and lighthearted humour in line with the ongoing tradition of Tsukurimon citizen culture that began in Kimamoto during the Edo period. 

A beautiful card entitled Birds and Flowers of Twelve Months (August)  by Sakai  Hōitsu  酒井 抱一  (1761-1828).  Hōitsu began his studies in art in the    Kanō school - one of the most schools of Japanese art. He later studies with Watanabe Nangaku of the Maruyama School and Sō Shiseki of the nanga style before finally becoming a painter of the Rinpa School.    In 1797,  Hōitsu became a Buddhist priest. He cited poor health for his decision. He spent the last 21 years of his life in seclusion. He also spent this time studying the work of Ogata  Kōrin and Ogata Kenzan, and created a number of reproductions of their works. He also produced two books of woodblock prints of the Ogata brothers works. 

A sumo wrestling  相撲  card! I love it. Sumo, of course, is a traditional form of wrestling that dates back over 2000 years. It is steeped in tradition and ritual. Life as a wrestler is highly regimented, with rules regulated by the Japan Sumo Association. Wrestlers live in communal sumo training stables, known in Japanese as heya, were all aspects of their daily lives - from meals to their manner of dress - are dictated by strict kyara tradition. The lifestyle has a negative effect on their health, with sumo wrestlers having a much lower life expectancy that the average Japanese man. 

Saitama  さいたま市  is a city of 1.324 million people located just outside of Tokyo. This card is a Shinto shrine found on Mount Inari. This photo shows some of the 10 000 torii (an archway to a Shinto shrine) dedicated by devotees. This shrine is called the Fushimi Inari-taisha  伏見稲荷大社  and is the head shrine of the kami (diety) Inari. Inari is the kami of rice and agriculture, but merchants also considered him the patron of business.
