4049 - Tianjin, China

There are 14 million people in Tianjin 天津!  It is governed as one of the four municipalities under the direct administration of the State Council of China (Beijing, Shanghai, and Chongqing are the other three).  It is found on the coast of the Bohai Gulf in the Yellow Sea. It is a part of the Bohai Economic Rim. Needless to say it is a very important economic driver of China.

3606 - Chongqing, China

A wonderful card with a photo of a bronze wine vessel from the Warring States period in Chinese history. This period of Chinese history took place between 475 BCE to about 221 BCE. During the period the State of Qin annexed each of the other contender states by 221 BCE and started the Qin Dynasty. The 800 year Zhou Dynasty came to an end during this period (256 BCE).

3592 - Shanghai, China

I like these info cards. Zunyi  遵义 is a prefecture-level city in China. In China, a prefecture is an administrative division below a province, but above a county. There are 2.4 million people in the metropolitan area, but the prefecture, including 14 county-level areas, has about 6.6 million people.  Zunyi is situated between Guiyang, the capital of Guizhou Province, and Chongqing, and borders Sichuan. It is one of the most important cities of the province! Zunyi was were the Zunyi Conference took place in 1935. Mao Zedong was first elected to the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party here during the Long March.

3001 - Nanjing, Jiangsu, China

This card is from a university student from Nanjing who travelled to Chongqing City for his winter vacation.  His card pictures a cable car, or aerial tramway, crossing the Yangtze River. Chongqing is the only Chinese city that keeps public aerial tramways. The Yangtze River Tramway is 1160 meters long and transports about 10 000 people a day.
