I like these info cards. Zunyi 遵义 is a prefecture-level city in China. In China, a prefecture is an administrative division below a province, but above a county. There are 2.4 million people in the metropolitan area, but the prefecture, including 14 county-level areas, has about 6.6 million people.
Zunyi is situated between Guiyang, the capital of Guizhou Province, and Chongqing, and borders Sichuan. It is one of the most important cities of the province!
Zunyi was were the Zunyi Conference took place in 1935. Mao Zedong was first elected to the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party here during the Long March.
