4454 - Voronezh, Russia

Voronezh (Воронеж) is a city of about 1.1 million people and the administrative centre of Voronezh Oblast . Key sectors of its economy include mechanical engineering, metalworking, electronics, and food production. Voronezh is home to Buran Voronezh (Буран Воронеж), a professional hockey team that plays in the Supreme Hockey League (VHL) , the second tier of Russian hockey. The team is affiliated with Dynamo Moscow . The team was founded in 1949 and has played in a variety of leagues, including several levels of the Soviet hockey system (Class B, A3, A2), as well as the Vysshaya Liga, the Pervaya Liga, and the All-Russian League.

4453 - Ancramdale, New York, United States

Ancramdale is a hamlet in New York State. It is located on New York State Route 82.

4452 - Surrey, British Columbia, Canada

One of the television shows I am currently watching is set in Surrey . Allegiance is a Canadian police drama that follows rookie constable Sabrina Sohal as she navigates her career in a fictional federal police force, rather than the real Royal Canadian Mounted Police . Over the course of the series, she becomes increasingly involved in complex investigations, including efforts to clear her father’s name after he is implicated in a serious crime, while also confronting corruption and internal conflicts within the force, and balancing her personal and professional life. The show highlights Surrey’s diverse communities, particularly its South Asian and Indigenous populations. Sabrina herself is Sikh, and the series explores themes of racism, stereotypes, and systemic bias within policing.

4451 - Chicago, Illinois, United States

On the back of the card, the transcript reads "Have you heard the news? If not, take a step outside and pick up one of Chicago's beloved hometown journals. Situated at every busy corner, they'll bring you up to speed on current events, hot new restaurants, touring musicians passing through the town, and that juicy neighbourhood gossip! Print lives on these iconic outposts!"

4450 - Leppävirta, North Savo, Finland

Leppävirta is a municipality of 9000 people. The card shows, I think, an illustration from a children's book. The caption on the back reads "Osmo Omppu Omenamäki - Hero of the Seas.

4449 - Liptovský Hrádok, Slovakia

Liptovský Hrádok was named after the nearby castle. The castle was built for use of the forestry commission, hunters of the area, and for the Catholic Church. It was later modified and furnished in the style of Louis XVI. In 1728 the area became known for salt processing.  Today there are almost 7000 who call Liptovský Hrádok home.

4448 - Gilbert, Arizona, United States

This is a great card from Gilbert, Arizona ! My first thought when I saw the name was that Gilbert must be a small, possibly declining town of a few hundred people. Since it’s in Arizona, I imagined it might have been a mining community that began to fade after the mine closed. However, Gilbert is actually a suburb of Phoenix and has a population of nearly 300,000. The last time the town had only a few hundred residents was around the 1940 census. In the 1980s, Gilbert experienced a population boom. Between 1980 and 1990, the population grew from 5,717 to nearly 30,000. By 2000, it had reached almost 110,000—an increase of more than 400% in just a decade. There was no mine. William Gilbert , the town’s namesake, provided land to the Arizona Eastern Railway in 1902 to build a line between Phoenix and Florence. Settlers, including members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints , moved into the area, including some who had left Mexico during unrest associated with Pancho Vil...

4447 - Lahaska, Pennsylvania, United States

This is a reproduction of the Phoebe Snow advertising campaign for the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad (1900–1917). Phoebe Snow was a fictional character created by Earnest Elmo Calkins to promote the railroad. She was one of the first advertising characters based on a live model. Rail travel around 1900 was tough on passengers’ clothing. After a long trip on a train hauled by a bituminous coal-fired steam locomotive, travelers would often disembark covered in black soot. This was usually not the case when the locomotive burned anthracite, a cleaner-burning type of coal. The Lackawanna owned vast anthracite mines in Pennsylvania and, up until World War I , used anthracite in its passenger locomotives. As a result, the railroad could legitimately claim that passengers’ clothing would remain clean after a long journey. To promote this, Phoebe Snow was described as a “young New York socialite” and a frequent passenger on the Lackawanna. She was always depicted wearing a whit...

4446 - Allendale, New Jersey, United States

The New Yorker is famous for its cover art, and there is a postcard series dedicated to it. I’ve received many of these during my time with Postcrossing . I initially thought this one was from February, but it was actually published in late August 1997. I’m not sure whether the arrow is meant to be an erotic symbol—or if that’s just the kind of question the image is meant to leave you with.

4445 - Taichung, Taiwan

Taichung was home to the Taichung Suns , a professional basketball team that played in the T1 League . The T1 League was one of several recent attempts to establish a stable professional men’s basketball league in Taiwan and operated from 2021 to 2024. The Suns were one of the original teams in the league. They played for two seasons before folding due to financial difficulties, finishing with losing records in both seasons. It’s a reminder of how quickly teams can come and go, even in major cities.

4444 - Kelsterbach, Hesse, Germany

Kelsterbach is part of the Frankfurt Rhein-Main urban area. After World War II , many of the businesses in Kelsterbach were connected to Frankfurt Airport , which is located adjacent to the town. The sender notes that this card from Brussels was purchased during a weekend trip. The photo shows Parc du Cinquantenaire (Park of the Fiftieth Anniversary), a large urban park of about 30 hectares located in the eastern part of the European Quarter. The “fiftieth anniversary” refers to the Belgian Revolution , when the southern provinces of the Kingdom of the Netherlands seceded and established the Kingdom of Belgium. The centerpiece of the complex is the Cinquantenaire Arch , completed in 1905. The park is filled with gardens, ponds, and landscaped green spaces. Prior to 1930, it hosted numerous trade fairs, exhibitions, and festivals. Today, it serves primarily as a public leisure park. The northern part of the complex houses the Royal Museum of the Armed Forces and Military History ...

4443 - Altenstadt, Hesse, Germany

It’s interesting to think of such a long history—from Roman soldiers to modern-day celebrations—captured in a single postcard. This card comes from Altenstadt , located north of Frankfurt . It is an ancient settlement first mentioned in documents in 767. Archaeological excavations have shown that it was the site of a Roman garrison in the first half of the second century. This card celebrates 175 years of Hasenheide Gymnastics. The image is entitled “The Gymnastics Trip.”

4442 - Ruijin, Jiangxi, China

Ruijin (瑞金) is often considered the cradle of the Chinese Communist Revolution. After being forced out of the Jinggang Mountains , Chinese Communist forces regrouped in Ruijin. In 1931, Mao Zedong proclaimed the Chinese Soviet Republic , with Ruijin as its capital. The Communists eventually withdrew from the city during the Long March after being surrounded by Nationalist forces. Today, Ruijin remains a popular destination for “red tourism,” referring to sites significant to the history of communism in China. It also attracts visitors interested in nature and ecotourism, as well as some ideological pilgrims from China and abroad. The photo on the front of the card is of Qianshan Mountains (千山), a scenic mountain range in northeastern China. The highest peak in the range rises to about 1,336 metres.

4441 - Hildesheim, Lower Saxony, Germany

A very nice card featuring an illustration of a mushroom—the sender decorated the back with washi tape, an “I just Kant” sticker, and a wax seal. I usually don’t put that kind of effort into the cards I send, but I appreciate it when others do. Hildesheim is home to the Knochenhaueramtshaus (Butchers’ Guild Hall). It was originally built in 1529 in a Gothic style and served as a meeting place for the butchers’ guild, which was a very wealthy and influential guild in the area during the Middle Ages. The cellar walls were 1.4 metres thick, helping keep temperatures low for storing meat and sausages. During World War II , many of Hildesheim’s neighbouring cities were bombed by the Allies, and numerous historic buildings were destroyed. The town council considered dismantling the Butchers’ Guild Hall to preserve it, but this proved impossible. Instead, plaster casts were taken of the most valuable wooden carvings, detailed wooden models were made, and extensive photographs were taken an...

4440 - Taipei, Taiwan

The Alishan Forest Railway is an 86 kilometre network of narrow gauge (762 mm) railways running up to and throughout the popular mountain resort of Alishan in Chiayi County. It was originally constructed for logging, but is know for tourism. It consists of Z-shaped switchbacks, over 50 tunnels, and 77 wooden bridges.

4439 - Santa Cruz, California, United States

This is a photo of Monterey Bay , located on the California coast about 120 kilometres south of San Francisco . Along the bay are communities such as Santa Cruz , where the sender of the card is from, and Monterey . Santa Cruz is a city of about 63,000 people located at the northern end of Monterey Bay. It is a popular tourist destination due to its beaches, surf culture, and historic landmarks. Santa Cruz was established as a Spanish mission in 1791. Fermín de Lasuén founded Mission Santa Cruz , and a settlement grew nearby. Santa Cruz later became an incorporated city in 1866, after California became a U.S. state in 1850.

4438 - Schalkhaar, Overijssel, Netherlands

Schalkhaar is a suburb of Deventer . Deventer is home to Go Ahead Eagles , which were founded in 1902. Their crest is found on the front of this card. The club plays at De Adelaarshorst , a stadium with a capacity of about 10,400. Today, they compete in the Eredivisie , the highest level of football in the Netherlands. Go Ahead Eagles have won the national championship four times: 1917, 1922, 1930, and 1933. They also won the KNVB Cup in 2025. The KNVB Cup is similar to England’s FA Cup, with clubs from multiple tiers of Dutch football competing. Approximately 100+ teams take part in the tournament, which has been held since 1898.

4437 - Hofheim in Unterfranken, Bavaria, Germany

A Postcrossing meetup card with about 8-9 people in attendance. It took place at Hofheim in Unterfranken, a town of 5125 people located in central Gemany.

4436 - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States

I want to share what the sender wrote on her card: Greetings from Philadelphia, USA. Travelled to Barbados for tasing the best rum in the world. Barbados is the only Caribbean country to produce rum with the real cane. And I was so surprised that the ocean view is so much more beautiful that I imagined.

4435 - Chengdu, Sichuan, China

Football (soccer) is a popular sport in Chengdu . Chengdu Tiancheng F.C. played in the second tier of Chinese professional football, commonly known as China League One , and hosted matches at the Chengdu Sports Center Stadium . The club was founded in 1996 and was originally known as Chengdu Wuniu (Five Bulls), named after its first sponsor, the Five Bulls Cigarette Company. The team was involved in a match-fixing scandal in 2009 while competing in the Chinese Super League . As punishment, the club was relegated to the second tier, and ownership changes followed. The club later struggled financially and was dissolved in 2015.

4434 - Southbridge, Massachusetts, United States

Happy Hallowe'en from Southbridge! Southbridge, Massachusetts has a long history of manufacturing optical products, earning it the unofficial title “Eye of the Commonwealth,” in reference to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Under the Wells family, the American Optical Company (AO) became the world’s largest manufacturer of ophthalmic products. At its height, the company employed more than 6,000 people worldwide. During World War II , many of its workers were exempted from the draft because they were engaged in vital defense work. This included manufacturing Norden bombsight s, as well as contributing to projects related to the atom ic bomb.

4433 - Saint Petersburg, Russia

This is a nice Postcrossing Meetup card depicting Julia Roberts from the movie Pretty Woman . It look like there was about 9-10 participants.

4432 - Bellingham, Washington, United States

These U.S. National Parks cards made by Lantern Press are among my favourites. This one comes from Bellingham and depicts North Cascades National Park . North Cascades National Park covers approximately 200 000 hectares in northern Washington. The area was first established as a forest reserve in 1897, but efforts to designate it as a national park continued for decades. It was finally established as a national park in 1968. North Cascades is home to 75 mammal species, including 18 carnivores such as coyotes, bobcats, lynx, cougars, and black bears. The park contains about 960 square kilometres of old-growth forest. Western hemlock, red cedar, and Douglas fir are common, and red cedars over 1000 years old and 60 metres tall can be found along Big Beaver Creek. There are no vehicle-accessible campgrounds within the park. Overnight camping is considered backcountry camping, and campsites are carefully managed to prevent overcrowding. Many hiking trails take days to traverse, and the ...

4431 - Buchloe, Bavaria, Germany

I am always amazed how beautiful Germany is! This is a multiview card that shows some of these beautiful sites in the   Ostallgäu district of the Swabia region of Bavaria.  The sender is from Buchloe, a town of 14 000 in Ostallgäu. Buchloe.

4430 - Plymouth, Massachusetts, United States

It’s easy to imagine stepping into the scene on the card and walking through the early days of the settlement. The card features a scene from Plimoth Patuxet Museums , a complex of living history museums in Plymouth founded in 1947. It is a replica of the original settlement of the Plymouth Colony , established in the 17th century by English colonists who became known as the Pilgrims. The recreations are based on a wide variety of first-hand and second-hand records, accounts, articles, and period paintings and artifacts. There is also ongoing research and scholarship, including archaeological excavation and curation both locally and abroad. Employees and volunteers dress in period costume and portray the original inhabitants.

4429 - Montréal, Québec, Canada

A very well attended Postcrossing Meetup card from Montréal. I met many of these folks when Canada had an online Postcrossing Meetup last year.

4428 - Zaandam, North Holland, Netherlands

This photo looks like it’s from one of those beachside basketball courts in Los Angeles. The sender, however, is from Zaandam. Zaandam is a city of almost 80 000 people located on the river Zaan. Claude Monet lived in Zaandam for a year and created 25 paintings of the area. The most famous of these is Houses on the Achterzaan . Painted in oil on canvas, it depicts riverside garden houses along the west shore of the Achterzaan River. Monet painted the scene from the dam, facing northwest. Today, the painting is part of the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. An interesting fact about Zaandam is that the first European McDonald's opened here in 1971.

4427 - Karlstadt, Bavaria, Germany

The sender is from Karlstadt and she proudly exclaims that they are celebrating the town's 825th anniversary (2025). Celebrations included having guests from their twin towns attend, and they had a volleyball match again Quelfut(?) and they won!

4426 - Kyiv, Ukraine

This card is entitled The City of Heroes, Irpin . Irpin is located near Kyiv. During the Russo-Ukrainian War, approximately seventy percent of the city was damaged. By 2023, most of the residents who had fled the city had returned. I wonder if the building on the front of the card is the House of Culture. Established by the local community in 1954, it was one of the first post–World War II cultural institutions in Irpin. The building was designed by Zoya Brod in a Soviet monumental classical style. The interiors and ceilings of the House of Culture were badly damaged by Russian artillery on March 17, 2022. While the façade remains standing—marked by bullet holes—much of the interior was destroyed. The surviving façade has become an important symbol of resistance. Today, its walls are decorated with sunflowers, representing the resilience and strength of the city’s people .

4425 - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Cameron Highlands was developed into an agricultural centre and tourist destination in the 1930s. The area is known for its tea plantations, as well as orchards, flower nurseries, and a wide variety of fruits and vegetables. Today, Cameron Highlands is also a popular resort destination, offering numerous hiking trails that lead to spectacular waterfalls, lakes, and mossy forests. The region features many resort-style amenities, including a golf course, hotels, bungalows, and a museum. It is a biodiverse area, home to a wide variety of fauna and more than 700 species of flora. Three animals found here are listed as threatened by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN): the Sumatran serow, the mountain peacock-pheasant, and the Malayan whistling-thrush.

4424 - San Mauro Mare, Forli-Cesena, Italy

A typical touristy-type postcard featured the main site from Milan, Naples, Rome, Firenze,Rimini, Agrigento, Venice, Genova, and Mount Etna. The sender hails from San Mauro Mare, a coastal village overlooking the Adriatic Sea.

4423 - Taichung, Taiwan

I can't tell if the sender hand drew this herself, or it is a bought card. Regardless, I love the simplicity of this card.

4422 - Chernihiv, Ukraine

This card features an image by Marysya Rudska titled Fox Sleep . The sender is from Chernihiv ( Чернігів) , a Ukrainian city of nearly 300,000 people with a history stretching back over a thousand years. During the ongoing Russo-Ukraine War, Chernihiv was besieged by Russian forces and completely encircled in March 2022. Russian troops withdrew in early April but left landmines in many areas surrounding the city. It is estimated that up to 70% of the city was damaged or destroyed during the siege. Russian forces included the 41st Combined Arms Army, while Ukrainian defenders consisted of units such as the 1st Tank Brigade, the 58th Motorized Brigade, and the 27th National Guard Regiment. As a result of the siege, around 350 Ukrainian soldiers were killed, along with approximately 700 civilians, and about 40 civilians were reported missing. Russian losses were reported to include 132 soldiers killed and around 250 taken as prisoners of war.

4421 - Leipzig, Saxony, Germany

The photo was taken by a German photographer who sells photo cards, among other items. His website is www.hans-fineart.com—check  out his work! The image comes from Saxon Switzerland (Sächsische Schweiz) National Park, located in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. The park is part of the Bohemian Switzerland natural area, which extends into the Czech Republic. It was established in September 1990 to protect the unique natural character of this hill range. Rock climbing is very popular here, with over 14,000 routes across more than 1,100 rock pinnacles. In the early 1900s, the Saxon Rules for rock climbing were established and are considered one of the foundations of modern free climbing. Ropes and bolts may only be used for safety, never as a means of ascent. Chalk and other protective aids are also not permitted. Another activity popular in the park is “boofe.” This local slang refers to sleeping overnight outdoors under a rock overhang. It has a long tradition in Saxon Switzerland. To...

4420 - Kampar, Perak, Malaysia

Kampar was once a thriving mining town, rich in tin reserves. Its fortunes began to decline after World War I as demand and production shifted. In recent decades, freshwater fishing has become an important driver of the local economy. Many of the abandoned tin mines have filled with water, creating lakes that now support fish populations. These former mining sites have been repurposed into fish farms, duck farms, and other forms of horticultural production.

4419 - Ivanovo, Russia

Ivanovo ( Иваново)  is located about 250 kilometres northeast of Moscow.  It lies on the Uvod River and has a population of 360 000 people. It became a major player in the textile industry, but that decreased dramatically after the fall of the Soviet Union.

4418 - Dortmund, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany

They have won the California League championship three times: 1971, 1978, and 2019. Two former Visalia players— Randy Johnson and Kirby Puckett —have been inducted into the National Baseba ll Hall of Fame and Museum .

4416 - Chicago, Illinois, United States

This is a great reproduction card of a vintage Chicago postcard from the 1930s–1940s. The sender is a supporter of the Chicago Blackhawks , who are currently celebrating their centennial season. The team joined the National Hockey League in 1926 and is considered one of the “Original Six” franchises. Frederic McLaughlin became the team’s third owner before it took to the ice. A coffee tycoon and veteran of World War I , he served with the 333rd Machine Gun Battalion of the 86th Infantry Division. The division was nicknamed the “Blackhawk Division,” after Black Hawk , a prominent Indigenous leader in the history of Illinois. The team was known as the “Black Hawks” until 1986, when the name was officially changed to “Blackhawks.” The Black Hawks began play in the 1926–27 season alongside fellow expansion teams such as the Detroit Red Wings (then the Cougars) and the New York Rangers . In Chicago, they also faced local competition from the American Hockey Association ’s Chicago Car...

4415 - Amberg, Bavaria, Germany

This is a stunning photograph of Io , one of Jupiter ’s moons. At first glance, Io looks almost unreal—its surface is splashed with bright yellows, oranges, and reds, resembling a giant pizza or a world covered in molten paint. These striking colours come from sulphur and volcanic deposits constantly reshaping its surface. Io is the innermost and third-largest of the four Galilean moons . It is slightly larger than Moon and is the fourth-largest moon in the Solar System. It is also the most volcanically active body in the Solar System, with more than 400 active volcanoes that release sulphur and sulphur dioxide. Io was discovered in 1610 by Galileo Galilei , along with the other Galilean moons: Ganymede , Callisto , and Europa . These moons are named after figures from Greek mythology associated with Zeus , whom he seduced or abducted. Io, for example, was a priestess of Hera and one of Zeus’s lovers.

4414 - Freiberg, Saxony, Germany

A typical multiview postcard showcasing the sights of Freiberg . In the lower right corner is Freudenstein Castle . The current version of the castle was completed in 1577 and formed part of the town’s defensive system during the Thirty Years' War . During the Seven Years' War , the castle’s interior was heavily damaged. In 1784, the military took over the building and converted it into a magazine (an ammunition storage facility). In 1813, it was used as a hospital for 1,500 wounded soldiers. The town of Freiberg assumed ownership in 1957, and the castle served as a granary until 1979. In 1973, a youth club even operated in the basement. From 1980 to 1990, a heritage organization was based at the castle and worked to rest ore it to its 1577 appearance.

4413 - Parma, Italy

I think this is my favourite Postcrossing meet-up card! This one took place in Bergamofil in September 2025.

4412 - Suzhou, Jiangsu, China

Suzhou (苏州市) is the most populous city in Jiangsu province, with a population of about 12.8 million people. Located in eastern China , it was historically an important economic, cultural, and scholarly centre, particularly during the Song dynasty and Qing dynasty . Suzhou is also famous for the Classical Gardens of Suzhou (苏州园林), a collection of historic gardens recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site . These gardens have been developed over nearly a thousand years and showcase traditional Chinese garden design. They feature carefully constructed landscapes that mimic natural scenery—rocks, hills, and waterways—along with strategically placed pavilions and pagodas. Today, there are 69 preserved gardens in Suzhou. According to UNESCO, these gardens “represent the development of Chinese landscape garden design over more than two thousand years” and are considered the “most refined form” of this art.

4411 - Veldegem, West Flanders, Belgium

Veldegem is part of a municipality called Zedelgem. Zedelgem has 23 000 people and also includes the villages of Aartrijke, Loppem, and Zedelgem.  This card is signed by a family of four who like to go for walks and pick up any rubbish they encounter.

4409 - Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India

Chennai is home to the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), a professional Twenty20 cricket team that competes in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The team was one of the original eight franchises when the league was established in 2008 and plays its home matches at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium . CSK has won five IPL titles, making it one of the most successful teams in the league’s history, and has appeared in 10 finals. The team was suspended for two seasons following its involvement in the 2013 IPL spot-fixing and betting case . In January 2022, CSK became the first unicorn sports enterprise—meaning a startup valued at over US$1 billion. Today, the franchise is valued at approximately US$1.15 billion. The M. A. Chidambaram Stadium is one of the oldest cricket venues in India. Established in 1916, it has undergone several renovations and upgrades over the years and now has a seating capacity of around 38 200 spectators.

4408 - Schramberg, Baden-Württemberg, Germany

This is a photo of Saint Vitas Chapel located in Markgraflerland. Saint Vitas (c290-c303) was a Christian martyr from Sicily. He died during the Dioclentianic Persecution in 303. The Dioclentianic Persecution was the last and most severe persecution of Christians in the Roman Empire.

4407 - Stuart, Virginia, United States

A very cool vintage card featuring Hiptenea Osceola and her baby brother, Conapatchee. They are Seminole, and the photo was taken in the Florida Everglades , near Miami . It was likely originally a black-and-white photograph that was later hand-coloured. The sender is from Stuart , a small town in southern Virginia with a population of about 1,400 people. It was first known as Taylorsville in 1792, named in honour of an early settler. In 1884, it was renamed Stuart to honour J. E. B. Stuart , a Confederate major general who was born nearby.
