Visalia is home to the Visalia Rawhide, a minor league baseball team that competes in the California League. They are currently the Single-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks of Major League Baseball. Single-A represents one of the lower levels of professional baseball in the United States and Canada.
The Rawhide were founded in 1946 and were originally affiliated with the Chicago Cubs. Since then, they have had multiple affiliations and have changed their team name several times. They have won the California League championship three times: 1971, 1978, and 2019.
Two former Visalia players—Randy Johnson and Kirby Puckett—have been inducted into the National Baseba
ll Hall of Fame and Museum.
