3753 - Sé, Macau

Sé  大堂區   the second largest peninsular district in Macau. It is named for   Igreja da Sé, a Roman Catholic cathedral - the Cathedral of the Nativity of Our Lady, or in Portuguese,  Sé Catedral da Natividade de Nossa Senhora 澳門主敎座堂. There has been three versions of the cathedral. In 1623, it was a small wooden chapel. The second version was consecrated in 1850 by the Bishop of Macau, Jerónimo José da Mata. It was almost destroyed in a typhoon 24 years later. In 1937, the cathedral was completely rebuilt in concrete.
