4488 - Sastamala, Pirkanmaa, Finland

This card celebrates the fifth anniversary of the Finnish Postcrossing Friends Association. According to the card: there are almost 900 members; it was the first registered Postcrossing association in the world was founded in Tampere in 2015; there were 80 postcards issued by the association; there are two honourary members - Paulo Magalhaes and Ana Campos; and the first chairman was Marko Kulmala.

4166 - Tampere, Pirkanmaa, Finland

Tampere is home to two professional men's hockey clubs that play in the Liiga, the top tier of professional hockey in Finland. There was a third professional team, Koovee, that played mostly in Mestis, the second tier of professional hockey.  Tappara was founded in 1932 as the Tammerfors Bollklubb, and in 1955 as Tappara. Tappara plays out of Nokia Arena, which has a capacity of 12 700. They are the most successful club in Finland having won 20 Finnish league championships - Kanada-malja (13 Liiga titles and 7 Sarja (predecessor to Liiga) titles) the last being in 2024. They were also the runners up 17 times - 13 Liiga and 4 Sarja.  Internationally they have won the Champions Hockey League in 2023 and the Nordic Trophy in 2009.  Tampereen Ilves, or Ilves, was founded in 1931. 3393 - Sastamaia, Pirkanmaa, Finland

Sastamaia is located in south west Finland. It's nickname is the Book Capital of Finland. It has a long tradition of literature. During the summer it hosts the Old Literature Days ( anhan kirjallisuuden päivät. The Finnish Book Museum Pukstaavi was opened here and it promotes Finnish book culture and reading. Pukstaavi tells the popular story of a Finnish book on cultural history and social significance.  Sastamaia is also the home of Vammalan Lentopallo (VaLePa), who plays in Mestaruusliiga (Finnish Volleyball League).  VaLePa was founded in 1978 and play at the VeXve Arena (1500 capacity). They have been the Finnish league champions  twice (2012 and 2014), and won the Finnish Cup in 2012. 

3356 - Lempäälä, Pirkanmaa, Finland

Lempäälä is a small city located just south of Tampere. It is located on an isthmus between the lakes of Vanajavesi and Pyhäjärvi. Lempäälä was first mentioned in documents in 1430. Saint Birgitta, a medieval church, is the oldest building of Lempäälä. Today there are about 25 000 people living in Lempäälä. 

3185 - Tampere, Pirkanmaa, Finland

Tampere is the home to two Liiga hockey teams - Tappara and Ilves.  Tappara has won 18 Finnish league titles, the first being 1959 and the last in 2022. On this year's squad there are two Canadians - Geoff Platt and Ben Thomas. Platt is from Toronto. Before playing in Europe he played in the National Hockey League with the Anaheim Ducks and the Columbus Blue Jackets. He then spend five years in the Kontinental Hockey League with Dinamo Minsk, Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, and CSKA Moscow. While playing in Minsk, he accepted Belarusian citizenship. He first played for Belarus in international play in 2014. He played for Ilves, the Växjö Lakers, and now Tappara.  Ben Thomas was drafted by the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2014. he played five seasons in the American Hockey League before finally getting 5 games with Tampa Bay.
