The sender picked up this card when he was visiting family in Maine. Moose are a common site in Maine.  Moose are the world's tallest, largest, and heaviest extant species of deer. It is the tallest, and second largest land mammal in North America (bison are first). There is evidence that moose have been hunted by human as far back as the last Ice Age. 

A vintage travel card from Maine, probably from the 1970s. It shows the various sites a person should see when visiting Maine. The sender lives in Pandora, Texas, a community of 125 people (2000). It is at the junction of US Highway 87 and FM 1107, and is about 75 kilometres from San Antonio. 

Norridgewock is a small town of just under 3400 people, on the Kennebec River. New France defined the border of New England and Acadia as the Kennebec River. Rebecca's card is of the Portland Head Light, on C ape Elizabeth. The lighthouse sits on the land at the entrance of the primary shipping channel into Portland Harbor. It was completed in 1791 and is the oldest lighthouse in Maine. The lighthouse is automated today and maintained by the US Coast Guard. It was George Washington who order the lighthouse built.  The lighthouse is listed as a US National Register of Historic Places in 1973. It was first lit in 1791; automated in 1989, and sits at 31 meters in height. The light has a range of 44 km.
