Kathrin sent greetings from Burgwedel on a card from the Bibliophilia series of postcards - Langston Hughes.  Langton Hughes (1901 - 1967) was an American poet, social activist, novelist, playwright, and newspaper columnist. He is considered one of the early innovators of jazz poetry and a leader of the Harlem Renaissance.  The quote of the postcard is from the poem, "The Negro Speaks of Rivers" (1920).  The quote from the poem says, "My soul has grown deep like the rivers." Here is the poem in its entirety: I've known rivers: I've known rivers ancient as the world and older than the       flow of human blood in human veins. My soul has grown deep like the rivers.
