Mount Vernon is a part of Lot 62 on Prince Edward Island. Lot 62 was awarded to Richard Spry in the 1767 land lottery. Thomas Dougles, the 5th Earl of Selkirk, brought settlers to it in 1803. Mount Vernon was originally called Rona. Canada Post renamed Rona to Mount Vernon in 1918, but the change was officially adopted until 1946. The area is known for its wild low-bush blueberries, which are exported off the island. I remember going to the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. My wife and children are curling fans so we saw two curling matches - a women's and a men's event. We also attended two medal ceremonies at BC Place Stadium. The first night saw Barenaked Ladies performing after the medal ceremonies. The second night was a country music act (I can't remember who), but the best part about that night was a gold medal presentation to a Canadian! The crowd all sung O Canada at the top of their lungs! Such a great time!

A dream card! The Vancouver Canucks have been my hockey team since I can remember. The were formed the same year I was born and then started in the National Hockey League for the 1970-71 season. They joined with the Buffalo Sabres. Unfortunately, both clubs have yet to win the Stanley Cup. Vancouver came close three times, and the Sabres twice.  This card is from a Canada Post pre-paid card series featuring all of Canada's National Hockey League teams. The sender, who lives just outside of Ottawa, is a Senators supporter.  When I was younger and just knew the Canucks would win the Stanley Cup one day! As I get older, I am now in a 'just win one before I die" state of mind.  Go Canucks!
