Another great photograph, this time of Jefferson Market Court in Manhattan. It was taken by Berenice Abbott (1898-1991). Abbott was an American photographer known for her portraits of cultural figures of the interwar period (1918-1939), New York City photographs of architecture and urban design of the 1930s, and science interpretation of between the 1940s-1960s. 3285 - Victoria, British Columbia, Canada

The sender bought this card while on a trip to Arizona back in December 2022. The photo is from Taliesin West and is the international headquarters for the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation and the School of Architecture at Taliesin. Taliesin West in located within Scottsdale, Arizona.  Frank Lloyd Wright bought the land in 1937, paying $3.50/acre on a slope overlooking Paradise Valley outside of Scottsdale. He began coming to Arizona in 1935 on the advice of his doctor to get away from the harsh Wisconsin winters. Wright and the Taliesin Fellowship established a place of residence, a place of business, and a place of learning here.  Local resources and natural light play a large part in the design of the structure. The structure was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974, and designated a National Historic Landmark in 1982.
