A great tourist card from Suzhou  苏州市 . Suzhou is famous for the Suzhou  Gardens.  Gardens in Suzhou have an ancient history. The first garden in Suzhou belonged to the emperor of Wu State in Spring and Autumn period (600 BCE). More than 200 gardens existed in Suzhou between the 16th and 18th centuries. I like these info cards. Zunyi  遵义 is a prefecture-level city in China. In China, a prefecture is an administrative division below a province, but above a county. There are 2.4 million people in the metropolitan area, but the prefecture, including 14 county-level areas, has about 6.6 million people.  Zunyi is situated between Guiyang, the capital of Guizhou Province, and Chongqing, and borders Sichuan. It is one of the most important cities of the province! Zunyi was were the Zunyi Conference took place in 1935. Mao Zedong was first elected to the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party here during the Long March.

China has these neat postcards where there is another photo of the card that you can tear off and keep it for yourself. It's about a quarter of the size of the actual card. So you can keep a copy of the card for yourself while send the other part to someone else. Clever idea. I haven't seen this from other countries, though. The send sent me the whole card so I have both parts, as you can see in the photo.

A great official 2008 summer Olympics card photo of the 'Bird's Nest" 鸟巢.  The Bird's Nest, or the National Stadium  国家体育场  was built with seating for 91 000 and was completed in June 2008. It was also used for the 2022 Winter Olympics, too.  The stadium hosts sporting events. However, it does not have a team that uses it as their home stadium. Beijing Guo'an FC was going to play at the stadium, but they usually only draw about 10 000 spectators for games and thought it would be embarrassing to play in a venue that would only be 15% full.  Despite the lack of a home team, the stadium does host various international and national events and concerts. It also draws 20 000 to 30 000 people a day at 50 yuan (about CDN$9.25) to sightsee. It is a very profitable venue.

Jenson Button of Great Britain was second, and Kimi Räikkönen of Finland was third.  Lewis Hamilton has the most wins at the Chinese Grand Prix with six wins (2008, 2011, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2019), and Mercedes constructors have won six as well (2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019).  When first built the Shanghai International Circuit cost US$240 million, the most expensive on the Formula One World Championship Tour until 2...

This card is from the First Nanxlin Water Culture and Art Exhibition. A beautiful card! Shanghai has an amazing array of fine arts. The Songjiang School  淞江派  was founded by Gu Zhengyi, a famed painted during the Ming Dynasty. During the Republic of China era, many famous Chinese artists settled in Shanghai and it became the art centre of China. Artists such as Zhang Daqian, Liu Haisu, Xu Beihong, Feng Zikai, and Yan Wenliang created many different art styles with photography, wood carving, sculpture, comics, and Lianhuanhau.  In Shanghai today the China Art Museum is China's most comprehensive art and cultural facility.

Iy is from Shanghai but sent me a card of Hongcun Village in Anhui Province. Hongcun was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000 because of its exceptional preservation of architecture and city plan of a rural village from feudal China. It was established in 1131 by Wang Wen, a general during the Han Dynasty. The Wang because prosperous merchants. The village is shaped like an ox: the Leigang Hill is considered the head and the two trees on the hill are the horns. The four bridges across the Jiyin Stream are considered the legs and the houses of the village are the body. The Jiyin also represents the intestines, while the various lakes represent organs. Many scenes for the film, "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" were filmed here. Hongcun is the birthplace of Wang Daxie (1860-1929) who served as premier of the Republic of China twice for a grand total of 13 days! His first term was in November 1917 for 8 days, while his second term was in November-December 1922 for 13 days. ...

Shanghai  上海市  is China's largest city at about 25 000 000 people - that's 3900 people/km2. Humans have lived in the area for 6000 years. Shanghai means "upon the sea." The earliest used of Shanghai is in the 11th century. It is believed that an area of modern day Shanghai was below sea level, so the land appeared to be literally "on the sea." Lee doesn't have anything written in his profile, nor did he write a message on the card. The card, I think, has the Chinese symbol for water. Please correct me if I am wrong.
