Ruckersville is a town of about 1350 people established in 1732 by the same family that established Ruckersville, Georgia in 1773. John Rucker received a land grant from King George II of Great Britain for bringing four convicts to Viriginia as indentured servants. He was given 235 acres of land near Swift Run Gap.  Ruckersville is about 26 km north of Charlottesville.
