It’s easy to imagine stepping into the scene on the card and walking through the early days of the settlement. The card features a scene from Plimoth Patuxet Museums, a complex of living history museums in Plymouth founded in 1947. It is a replica of the original settlement of the Plymouth Colony, established in the 17th century by English colonists who became known as the Pilgrims.
The recreations are based on a wide variety of first-hand and second-hand records, accounts, articles, and period paintings and artifacts. There is also ongoing research and scholarship, including archaeological excavation and curation both locally and abroad. Employees and volunteers dress in period costume and portray the original inhabitants.
