Michurinsk Мичу́ринск is a town of almost 110 000 people and is the second largest town in Tambov Oblast. When is was founded in 1635, it was called Kozlov and built as a defensive town on the Belgorod Line. It blocked the Nogai Trail, a Tatar raiding route.
Kozlov was changed to Michurinsk in 1932 to honour biologist Ivan Michurin, who developed genetic laboratory and agricultural testing fields int he Tambov region, dedicated to pomology (the study of fruit growing), and selection.
On Natali's card is a photo of the post office in Sochi. She says she was there several years ago.
