2456 - Herford, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany

Richard is a city administrator and the yellow roofed building in the card is the town hall where he works. The card is promoting staycations because it says, Sei gast in deiner eigenen Stadt! (Be a guest in your own city). On the back of the card is says, Warum in die Ferne schweifen wenn das Gute liegt nah? (Why wander far away when the good is so close?)

Herford is an ancient town founded in 789 by Charlemagne in order to guard a ford crossing the narrow Werre River. 

Herford was the location of the headquarters of the 1st Armoured Division at Westfalen Garrison, as a part of the British Forces Germany until the division moved back to the United Kingdom in 2015. The British Forces Broadcasting Service studio for Germany was located here until 2009, when it moved to Hohne. 

In hockey, the Herforder Ev (Ice Dragons) play in the Regionalliga, which is the fourth level of hockey in Germany. There are 48 teams in the Regionalliga and they play in five different regions.
Herforder Ev is the current Regionalliga West champions.

The Mob Museum, officially known as the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, is located in downtown Las Vegas. It open in 2012. 2346 - Iwate, Iwate, Japan

Keita is a junior high science teacher in Iwate  岩手町. He sent me a photo of the Tokyo Sky Tower during a fireworks display. The Tokyo Sky Tower is a broadcasting and observation tower in Simide, a special ward in the Tokyo Metropolis. It became the tallest structure in Japan in 2010. In 2011, when it was completed at a height of 634 meters, it became the tallest tower in the world, and the second tallest structure in the world, after Burj Khalifa in Dubai, UAE.
