San Mateo is a city about 32 km south of San Fransisco. There are 106 000 people that live here. Its economy is driven by technology, health care, and education. 

The card is a photo of the Monte Bello Open Space Preserve in Palo Alto. The Monte Bello Open Space Preserve is found near Palo Alto in the Santa Cruz Mountains. The preserve has over 25 km of hiking trails and mountain biking trails. 

When the land was acquire to create a preserve there was a commune of about 100 people - called "The Land" who had to be evicted. The Land had a variety of dwellings on platforms scattered in the forests and canyons. There was a large ranch building that was used as a central dining hall, a woodworking shop, a stained-glass workshop, and a food store selling bulk items. The Land grew their own food, engaged is artistic pursuits, and gathered for holiday dinners and celebrations.

The Mob Museum, officially known as the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, is located in downtown Las Vegas. It open in 2012. 2346 - Iwate, Iwate, Japan

Keita is a junior high science teacher in Iwate  岩手町. He sent me a photo of the Tokyo Sky Tower during a fireworks display. The Tokyo Sky Tower is a broadcasting and observation tower in Simide, a special ward in the Tokyo Metropolis. It became the tallest structure in Japan in 2010. In 2011, when it was completed at a height of 634 meters, it became the tallest tower in the world, and the second tallest structure in the world, after Burj Khalifa in Dubai, UAE.
