3254 - Oldenburg, Lower Saxony, Germany

Cute card from Oldenburg. Unfortunately the artist's name is covered up by a sticker.

Proof of Oldenburg's existence date back to the 8th century. The first mention of Oldenburg in documents was in 1108 (Aldenburg).

The 2007 Fistball World Championships were held in Oldenburg and won by Austria. Fistball has many similarities to volleyball. However there are significant differences.

Firstly the ball must be hit with the arm or closed fist. Secondly the ball is allowed to bounce before a player hits it. And thirdly, the field of play is significantly larger and played outside on grass or artificial turf.  The field is 50 meters by 20 meters, whereas a standard volleyball court is 18 meters by 9 meters.

Fistball is played mainly by German-speaking nations, Austria, Germany, and Switzerland, and in Brazil. Teams from Namibia, Argentina, and Chile also participate in the world championships.

I've attached a video of a fistball game to give you a better idea of what the game looks like.

The Mob Museum, officially known as the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, is located in downtown Las Vegas. It open in 2012. It features artifacts, stories, and the history of organized crime in the United States, but also the actions and initiatives by law enforcement to prevent such crimes.  The museum is found at the former Las Vegas Post Office and Courthouse, which was built in 1933.  The quote on this card was from John Gotti. John Gotti (1940-2002) was the mafioso and boss of the Gambino crime family in New York City. After ordering the killing of Gambino boss Paul Catellano in 1985, he took over the family and led what was the United States' most powerful crime syndicate. He was known as The Teflon Don  after three high profile trials in the 1980s resulted in acquittals.
