This photo is of Bec Abbey (Abbaye Notre-Dame du Bec). It is a Benedictine monastic foundation found in the Bec Valley in Normandy, France.
The abbey was founded in 1034 by Saint Herluin, a former Norman knight. He left the knighthood to devote himself to religion. Over the centuries, land was added, new buildings. Bec Abbey was damaged during the Wars of Religion and then left in ruin during the French Revolution. The St. Nicholas Tower, built in the 15th century remained standing.

In 1948, the site was re-established as the Abbaye de Notre-Dame du Bec by Olivetan monks. It has links with the Anglican Church, and has 5000 works concerning Anglicanism. Today the Abbey is best known for the pottery the monks produce.
