It's always great to get a card from Japan that isn't from Tokyo (not that I don't like cards from Tokyo, it just seems like most of the cards come from there). I'm afraid the card is lost at the moment. I guess when you get a year and a half, and 250 cards behind on one's blog, it might happen. Hopefully it will still turn up.
Asahikawa 旭川市 is found on Hokkaido 北海道, which is the large island in Japan's north. The city has a population of about 320 000 people. It belongs to UNESCO's Network of Creative Cities as a Design City in 2019. The Creative Cities Network was launched in 2004 by UNESCO to promote cooperation among cities which have recognized culture and creativity as strategic drivers of sustainable urban development. As of 2022, there are almost 300 cities on the list, from 90 countries.
