The sender says she bought this card in an antique shop. There was some handwriting on it already, she says, but it was too light to read. The card is an aerial view of Wildcat Mountain Sanatorium, in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Burke was founded in 1881, but originally named Rhodes, after W. R. Rhodes, the
general store owner, and H. R. Rhodes, the postmaster. In 1885 it was renamed Burke, after Edmund L. Burke, a railroad surveyor.
Today it has a population of almost 700 people.
