3839 - Incheon, South Korea

Incheon 인천 is a city of 3.1 million people located in north west South Korea, near Seoul. The postcard is a photo of the Ganworam Herimitage, located near Seosan, Chungcheong Province.

Ganworam Herimitage is found on a small island which can be accessed by land at low tide. There is a walkway visitors can maneuver on. There is a small temple and other buildings. The pavilion located inside the temple is used to pay tribute to the three Buddhist priests Jigong (d 1363), Naong Hyegeun (c 1320-1376), and Muhak (1327-1405).

The hermitage was founded by the Buddhist monk, Muhak 무학 during the Joseon Dynasty. The legend says that Muhak founded enlightenment here in the moonlight. Monks still live here.
