3595 - Commerce, Texas, United States of America

I love this card! Commerce is a city of 9000 people and home to Texas A&M University - Commerce, which has an enrolment of 12 000! Commerce was formed by William Jernigan and Josiah Jackson, two merchants who established a trading post and mercantile store here. The town was established and name Commerce due to the thriving economic activity among the cotton fields and ideal farm and ranch lands. William L. Mayo, a college educator, moved East Texas Normal College from Cooper, Texas, to Commerce in 1892 after the school in Cooper burned down. It eventually became Texas A&M University-Commerce.
