2388 - Jyväskylä, Central Finland, Finland

Jyväskylä is a Finnish city nicknamed the "Athens of Finland" because it is considered Finland's education centre. It is also one of the fastest growing cities of Finland. In 1940, there were only 8000 residents, whereas today there are almost 144 000.

Rally Finland in Jyväskylä started in 1951 and is one of the biggest attractions in all the Scandanavian countries attracting hundreds of thousands of people to Jyväskylä. Rally Finland is on the World Rally Championship circuit.

Rally Finland is known for its smooth and wide gravel roads, numerous big jumps (called yumps), and blind crests. The high number of jumps led to the nickname of "The Rally of a Thousand Jumps." The roads in Rally Finland are considered the best in the World Rally Championship.

Finnish drivers have dominated Rally Finland. The current champions, however, are from Great Britain. Welsh drive Elfyn Evan, and his co-driver, Scott Martin drove a Toyoya Yaris WCR. They defeated the previous two time champions from Estonia, Ott Tänak and Martin Järveoja by 14.1 seconds (2:19:13.7 hours).
