Michael from West Point used to be a truck driver and is now retired. In his trucking days he travelled throughout the United States and Canada.

West Point is a small census-designated place (unincorporated place) of 674 people. The famous American scout Kit Carson established a camp and called it West Point. He was looking for a pass over the Sierra Nevada Mountains. When the town was founded in 1852 it was called Indian Gulch. It was changed back to West Point in 1854. When the post office was established here in 1856, the name changed again to Westpoint. It was changed back to West Point in 1947.

About 2 kilometers from West Point is another unincorporated place called Bummerville. It is frequently cited on lists of unusual place names. Bummerville was known for its gold and tungsten mining operations.

Michael's card is from Hoover Dam. The dam was const
ructed during the Great Depression between 1941 and 1936. It was dedicated on 30 September 1935 by President Franklin D Roosevelt. Thousands of workers worked on the site, with just more than 100 perishing during the build. It was referred to as Hoover Dam after President Herbert Hoover, but was named Boulder Dam by the Roosevelt administration. It was re-named Hoover Dam by Congress in 1947.

The dam was conceived in order to provide flood protection and mitigation, provide irrigation water, and produce hydroelectric power. As a result Lake Mead was created behind the dam creating the largest reservoir of water in the United States. The dam is on the border of Nevada and Arizona.

Bakhmach is locarted in northern Ukraine. I'm taking this next paragraph straight out of Wikipedia: During the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 26, 2022, at least 65 units of Russian military equipment moved through Bakhmach, with about a hundred more on the outskirts. Local residents tried to stop the convoy on their own by blocking tank tracks with makeshift objects and convincing Russian soldiers not to move towards Kyiv . One man attempted to climb onto a tank and block the road with his body (he was not hurt). However, the military equipment continued to move, and Russian forces fired several shots into the air. The sender was in Las Vegas recently and bought this card from The Mob Museum. The Mob Museum, officially known as the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, is located in downtown Las Vegas. It open in 2012. It features artifacts, stories, and the history of organized crime in the United States, but also the actions and initiatives by law enforcement to prevent such crimes. The museum is found at the former Las Vegas Post Office and Courthouse, which was built in 1933. The quote on this card was from John Gotti. John Gotti (1940-2002) was the mafioso and boss of the Gambino crime family in New York City. After ordering the killing of Gambino boss Paul Catellano in 1985, he took over the family and led what was the United States' most powerful crime syndicate. He was known as The Teflon Don after three high profile trials in the 1980s resulted in acquittals. Later it was revealed that the trials had been tainted by jury tampering, juror misconduct, and...
