This is a wonderful painting by Spencer Frederick Gore (1878-1914), a British painter of landscapes, music-hall scenes, and interiors. This particular painting is hanging in the New Walk Museum in Leicester.
Gore was the first president of the Camden Town Group - a group of English post-impressionist artists founded in 1911 and remained active to 1913. It was decided that there should only be 16 members and they must be men.
Gore died at the age of 35 in Richmond, Surrey.
