4042 - Himeji, Hyōgo, Japan

A beautiful night view of Kobe City, where the sender said she lived for 30 years until she was married. Now she lives, presumably with her husband, in Himeji 姫路市. 

Himeji is a city of about 525 000 people with a high population density - 980 persons per square kilometre. What I found when reading about Himeji is that there is a North Korean school - Seiban North Korean Elementary and Middle School found in the city.

WTF?

North Korean schools, called Chōsen gakkō 朝鮮学校, are North Korean schools in Japan. They are affiliated with the Chongryon (the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan), which has strong ties to North Korea. They teach loyalty of the North Korean regime and hostility to the Western Bloc. Their students are born in Japan, but the lesson has a distinctive North Korean perspective. Japan has no control over the curriculum. 

There are 135 of these schools (as of 2012) in Japan, along with Korea University. In 2013, there were almost 9000 ethnic Korean students attending these schools. Most Koreans in Japan do not attend Chōsen gakkō and attend wholly Japanese schools. There are South Korean schools in Japan, which receive approval from the South Korean government and incorporate South Korean curriculum along with regular Japanese curriculum.
