This is a homemade painted card from Leuven. Leuven dates back to 891, when it was first mentioned in documentation. The Viking army was defeated by the Frankish king Arnulf of Carinthia at Loven (Leuven). The legends states that the city's red and white coast of arms depicts the blood stained shores of the river Dyle after the battle.
Today Leuven is the capital city of Flemish Brabant, with just over 100 000 people. It is a university city since 1425. It is home to the Old University of Leuven, Holy Ghost College, Collegium Trilingue, Pope's College, and St. Anthony's College. As such there is a large population of university students.
