Neuburg an der Donau is a city of 30 000 people. Artifacts discovered in the area date back to the Bronze Age. A Roman settlement was also a border town between the Roman Empire and the Germanic tribes.
The Neuburg Castle, which dominates the skyline, was built during the early Middle Ages on the site of the Roman fortress.
Today, it is the capital city of the Neuburg-Schrobenhausen district.
