Toyokawa 豊川市 is home to the temple of Toyokawa Inari, or Myōgon-ji 妙厳寺, a popular pilgrimage destination. It dates back to 1441 during the
Muromachi Period. It is a Sōtō Zen Buddhist temple. The temple is well known for its guardian deity Toyokawa Dakini Shinten, a goddess of fertility, rice, agriculture, industry, and worldly success.
