4212 - Layton, Utah, United States

Layton is a city of 82 000 people and located within the Ogden-Clearfield Metropolitan Area, just outside of Salt Lake City. Hill Air Force Base in right next door. Hill Air Force Base is home to:

  • 75th Air Base Wing
  • 388th Fighter Wing

The sender mentions the new Utah Hockey Club  of the National Hockey League. They were founded as the Utah Hockey Club in 2024, and changed their name to their current moniker, the Mammoth.

Technically Utah is an expansion team, but instead of having an expansion draft, the owner, Ryan Smith, acquired the Arizona Coyotes, who had just suspended operations. Because they are an expansion team, the team records of the franchise (Arizona/Phoenix Coyotes and Winnipeg Jets) will not be transferred. Retired number will also not follow the franchise.

The sender mentions that she still prefers the East Coast Hockey League team, the Utah Grizzlies. The East Coast Hockey League is the third tier of professional hockey in North America. All East Coast Hockey League teams have a National Hockey League affiliate. Utah's affiliate is the Colorado Avalanche. The Grizzlies were founded in 1981 in the now defunct Central Hockey League. However they were founded at the Nashville South Stars. This franchise has moved around!

  • 1981-83 - Nashville South Stars
  • 1983-90 - Virginia Lancers
  • 1990-92 - Roanoke Valley Rebels
  • 1992-93 - Roanoke Valley Rampage
  • 1993-94 - Huntsville Blast
  • 1994-01 - Tallahassee Tiger Sharks
  • 2001-02 - Macon Whoopie
  • 2002-03 - Lexington Men O' War
  • 2005-26 - Utah Grizzlies
Starting in the 2026-27 season, the Grizzies will be moving to Trenton, New Jersey, to become the Trenton Ironhawks. The franchise has never won the Kelly Cup, the East Coast Hockey League's Championship trophy.

3584 - Blaine, Minnesota, United States of America

The sender was in Las Vegas recently and bought this card from The Mob Museum. The Mob Museum, officially known as the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, is located in downtown Las Vegas. It open in 2012. It features artifacts, stories, and the history of organized crime in the United States, but also the actions and initiatives by law enforcement to prevent such crimes.  The museum is found at the former Las Vegas Post Office and Courthouse, which was built in 1933.  The quote on this card was from John Gotti. John Gotti (1940-2002) was the mafioso and boss of the Gambino crime family in New York City. After ordering the killing of Gambino boss Paul Catellano in 1985, he took over the family and led what was the United States' most powerful crime syndicate. He was known as The Teflon Don  after three high profile trials in the 1980s resulted in acquittals. Later it was revealed that the trials had been tainted by jury tampering, juror misconduct, and...

3566 - Bakhmach, Chernihiv, Ukraine

Bakhmach is locarted in northern Ukraine. I'm taking this next paragraph straight out of Wikipedia: During the  Russian invasion of Ukraine  on February 26, 2022, at least 65 units of Russian military equipment moved through Bakhmach, with about a hundred more on the outskirts. Local residents tried to stop the convoy on their own by blocking tank tracks with makeshift objects and convincing Russian soldiers not to move towards  Kyiv . One man attempted to climb onto a tank and block the road with his body (he was not hurt). However, the military equipment continued to move, and Russian forces fired several shots into the air. Слава Україні!

3564 - Kassel, Hesse, Germany
